We are not consultants who come to your office to work with you. Rather, your organization sends a mixed team of seven people—board members, staff and volunteers—to a two-day workshop we offer in several cities in the U.S. each year.

Your team sits at its own round table in a room with ten to twenty other teams from different types of nonprofits.

Our Benevon instructor guides you through a workbook of scripts and templates, tailoring every aspect of the Benevon Model to your organization’s unique needs. In the course of the two days, with the help of your coach, your team designs a customized implementation plan and timeline, including:

  • How to put on a succinct one-hour Benevon Point of Entry Event to introduce new people to your organization
  • How to convey the emotional impact of your work
  • How to cultivate new donors
  • How to put on your first Benevon Free One-Hour Ask Event and how much money you can expect to raise
  • How to cultivate and ask for individual gifts

Over the next year, your team receives telephone coaching every eight to ten weeks, strategically timed to coincide with the major milestones in the model leading up to your first Free One-Hour Ask Event.

Results: The average first-year group raises $200,000 in cash and pledges.

How does the five-year Sustainable Funding Program work?
If, after successfully implementing the Benevon Model for the first year, your organization wants to continue the process, your organization signs up for a series of five annual two-day workshops and coaching for your team of eight people. The curriculum for each year's workshop (201, 301, etc.) provides the skills you will need to move to the next level of success in attaining non profit sustainability. Most groups join the Sustainable Funding Program in their second year, after implementing the model successfully for one year.

We work with you to craft the ideal team, based on our experience with over 4,500 nonprofit teams since 1996.

Using our formulas and spreadsheets, our trained coaches assist your team in quantifying a measurable definition of sustainable funding (e.g. reserve fund, endowment, number of new individual donors) and then coach your team to attain yearly benchmarks.

As part of the program tuition, you may train up to fifteen additional team members over the five years at our live, online Benevon New Team Member Intensive.

What kind of results can we expect?

  • First-year groups raise an average of $200,000 in cash and pledges. Groups report that over 60% of this money came from new donors.
  • By the third year, the average group in the Sustainable Funding Program has raised a cumulative total of $1.5 million in cash and pledges through using the Benevon Model.
  • By the fifth year, the average group in the Sustainable Funding Program has raised a cumulative total of over $3.5 million in cash and pledges through using the Benevon Model.
