Dispersed Donor Base

Q: We are an international organization serving in fifty-six countries with a donor base all over the United States. How can we put together an Ask Event when we do not have an area of donor concentration?

Henri in California

A: I would recommend starting at just one location, with people (volunteers, donors, neighbors) who love what you do, and start spreading the word there. As you hold Point of Entry® Events and cultivate people, you will find people who will want to support your work and can be asked to come to an Ask Event. Then, as you gear up for an Ask Event, find your Table Captains first. Those are the people most passionate about your work and with you on your mission. The Table Captains can then invite people who are familiar or not with your work—new or previous donors. If this system is successful in one location, you can then spread it out to other regions.
