Improving Image within the Community

Q: Our organization does excellent work, but we are currently struggling with some recent damage to our image within the community. I have been asked to come up with a fundraising plan to use as we go through this difficult time. We are not expecting to increase our donor base; we just want to maintain our relationships with the corporations, foundations, and individual donors we already have as supporters. Would the Benevon Model work for us in this situation?

A: This fundraising model is an excellent way to connect with your community and share the stories about all the great work your organization does every day, which will naturally dispel the myths and stereotypes you are encountering. This model will increase your visibility in your community and help your community to recognize the valuable work you do. The Benevon Model focuses primarily on building long-term relationships with mission-based individual donors. While it is not specifically designed for building relationships with corporations or foundations, it can be applied to those relationships as well.

I recommend that your organization begin implementing this model, starting with establishing a system for introductory Point of Entry® Events (the first step in the model) to educate and inspire your community about your mission and work. You can learn more about this model through the various types of resources we offer. Visit our Web site for more information about:
