Children's Institute for Learning Differences

Trina Westerlund, the executive director of Children's Institute for Learning Differences in Mercer Island, WA, shares her experience using the Benevon Model on her own. This brief audio clip is taken from an October 2005 conference call with Terry Axelrod, founder and CEO of Benevon.

SelfImplementer2.jpg: After reading the Raising More Money books, Children's Institute held their first fundraising Ask Event and had pretty good results. They raised $56,000 from 125 people. Then they decided to send a team to a Benevon 101 Workshop. At their next Ask Event, they raised $222,000 from 330 guests and created an exciting event their community now looks forward to. Their Multiple-Year Giving Society grew to 16 donors at their second event, more than doubling in size, and they secured the seed money for a capital campaign.

"What's happened for us is we made the discovery through the training in 101 that a team is so different than having a development person who takes on a fundraising event on their own and pulls in a few volunteers and tries to pull it off," she said.
