Posting Ask Event Information on the Web
Q: Our organization has a Web site that displays a calendar of all of our future events (shows, parades, special lectures, etc.). What do you think of posting the date and time of our annual fundraising breakfast on the calendar? We are thinking this would be helpful to our current Multiple-Year Giving Society™ members who would like a quick reminder of the event date, and this also might pique the curiosity of those who are not familiar with our fundraising. We already have a link on our Web site to a "Donate" page. We could also add information on that page inviting people to "Join our Multiple-Year Giving Society...Ask us how!"
We do not intend for this electronic calendar and "Donate" page to replace our Point of Entry® Events or any of the person-to-person contact we've made which is central to the Benevon system, but we thought it might be a nice addition to perhaps capture a few more people as well as raise awareness about our annual fundraising event.

A: It's fine to post information about your fundraising breakfast on your organization's Web site calendar. This would be helpful to people already planning to attend, and, as you mention, may generate interest from others who didn't know about it. And you can certainly add information about your Multiple-Year Giving Society (but don't call it that—call it the warmer name you've given to yours) on your Web site. I also recommend that you put an invitation to your Point of Entry on your "Donate" page, since the people who are interested in donating online to your organization may also be interested in an event that provides an up-close and personal look at your work.
