Holding a Small Ask Event

Q: We have not had very many Point of Entry® guests yet, but a few of them are becoming strong supporters. Should we hold a very small Ask Event this year, or should we wait until next year when we have had more Point of Entry guests?

A:  It is fine to hold a small Ask Event if you have enough people who are truly ready to give to your organization. Remember that 20% of your Ask Event guests must have attended a Point of Entry. If you have less than that amount, then you have two choices. One option is to get as many people as possible through your Point of Entry and immediately follow up and involve them, then hold a small Ask Event within three to five months after that. As a second option, instead of holding an event for those few people who could be potential Ask Event guests at this year's event, you could delay the event until next year and invite those few cultivated people who you currently have to be Table Captains at your next year's event. Make sure to continue cultivating them in the meantime so they stay involved with your organization and look forward to your Ask Event.
